About Imposter Game

Fakeit is a pass-the-phone imposter game from Warsaw's SMAK APPS: every player but one sees a secret word, then the group trades clues and votes on who was bluffing. It runs offline on a single device for 3 to 15 players, and a Drawing Chaos mode swaps spoken clues for sketches. The catch is the paywall: the stores name only the Party Time deck as free, and most other categories need a subscription.

Fakeit Review: Quick Bluffing Rounds on One Phone, One Free Deck

One Phone, 3 to 15 Players and a Word the Imposter Never Sees

After names are entered, the phone goes round the table and each person taps to see a card privately: civilians get the word, the imposter gets a red IMPOSTER label instead. Clues follow in turn under a countdown, and a Who's the Imposter? screen collects the votes. SMAK's site puts the range at 3 to 15 players, best with 5 to 8, and lets larger groups add extra imposters. One rule keeps the bluffer dangerous: if the imposter names the secret word before the timer ends, they win outright. Yanstar Studio's Undercover: Word Party Game instead hands its infiltrator a near-miss word. In November 2025 an App Store reviewer noticed the imposter was never picked to speak first, a pattern that gives the role away.

Drawing Chaos Mode and a Category Count That Depends on the Source

Drawing Chaos, billed as a major update on both stores, adds a mode where players sketch a clue instead of saying it and the group compares drawings before voting; one August 2026 Play review reports strokes landing away from the finger. Store art shows Party Time, Celebrities, Food, Spicy and Animals, and the developer's FAQ adds Professions. Spicy is pitched as bold and a little risky. Apple rates the game 18+, citing infrequent mature or suggestive themes, while Google Play rates it Everyone. The size of the library is harder to pin down: the Google Play text says nine categories, the App Store text says ten, one screenshot says 500+ words, and smakapps.io claims 16+ categories and 1,000+ words.

Party Time Is Free; Everything Else Costs $2.99 to $59.99

The stores name Party Time as the free deck, reviewers count one or two free categories, and they describe a subscription screen at launch with a small close button that some missed. Apple's listing shows Premium Subscription tiers at $2.99, $7.99 and $9.99 plus a FakeIt - Premium item at $39.99 or $49.99; Google Play gives $5.99 to $59.99 per item. Neither store names the billing periods. Prices are US, regional and may change. Billing dominates the complaints: of the 150 newest US English Play reviews, posted September 17 to October 2, 2026, 33 give one or two stars and 24 of those concern paying or being charged; older reviews describe charges after a free trial renewed. SMAK's replies point to Google Play's Payments & subscriptions page to cancel and Report a problem for refunds. Both stores also flag ads. Heads Up!, by contrast, costs $1.99 upfront on the App Store.

  • Runs on Android 7.0, iOS 16.4, M1 Macs and Windows PCs

Verdict

The 6.5 rewards a quick, well-built imposter loop and docks it for the paywall around it. Tap-to-reveal role cards, room for 3 to 15 players, offline play and the imposter's steal-win rule make Fakeit an easy pick for a group with one phone and no signal. Take it if the free Party Time deck is enough or you choose Premium knowingly. Skip it if you want a one-off price, where Heads Up! charges $1.99, or if trial billing worries you.

Gameplay7.5A classic word-imposter loop, sharpened by the imposter's steal-win rule and the new Drawing Chaos mode.
Controls8.0Name list, tap-to-reveal role cards, a pausable timer and a one-tap vote screen; one drawing bug reported.
Replay value6.0Free play centers on the Party Time deck and reviewers report repeated words; the full library needs Premium.
Graphics & sound7.5Bold red-and-black screens and clay-style 3D character cards give each player a distinct face.
Monetisation4.0Paywall at launch, US prices from $2.99 to $59.99, ads on both stores and frequent trial-charge complaints.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Fakeit without internet?

Yes. SMAK's FAQ says the game runs fully offline with no Wi-Fi, mobile data or account, and Google Play tags it Offline. Everything happens on one phone passed around the room. Neither store listing mentions an online mode for friends in other places, something Play reviewers have asked for.

2

Is the Fakeit imposter game free?

Partly. The Party Time deck is free once you close the subscription screen; most other categories need Premium. The US App Store lists subscription tiers from $2.99 to $9.99 and a FakeIt - Premium item at $39.99 or $49.99, and Google Play shows $5.99 to $59.99 per item, without billing periods. Prices vary by region and may change. Cancel in the store's subscription settings.

3

What devices does Fakeit run on, and is it suitable for kids?

Android 7.0 or newer, iPhone and iPad on iOS 16.4, Macs with an M1 chip, Apple Vision and Windows PCs through Google Play. The download is about 130 MB on Android and 160 MB on iPhone. Google Play rates it Everyone, but Apple rates it 18+ for infrequent mature or suggestive themes; it also has a Spicy deck, so choose decks with younger players in mind.

4

How many players do you need for Fakeit?

Three at minimum and up to 15 on a single phone, according to SMAK's site, which calls 5 to 8 the sweet spot and lets bigger groups add more imposters. All play is face to face. For remote friends, Among Us gives each player their own device and an online lobby, while Undercover: Word Party Game has an online mode that needs an account.

5

How long does a round of Fakeit take?

About three to five minutes by SMAK's estimate, so five to ten rounds fill 20 to 30 minutes. A countdown runs during the clue round; a store screenshot shows it at 02:58. Free players get little beyond the Party Time deck, and reviewers say its words repeat; the full 1,000+ word library needs Premium.
