About Rainbow Six Mobile

Rainbow Six Mobile is Siege's 5v5 attack-versus-defence structure on a phone — drones, reinforced walls, breachable hatches, maps such as Bank, Clubhouse, Border, Oregon and Villa — released worldwide on February 23, 2026 after a soft launch that began in Canada in August 2023. It needs a connection, 3.4 GB and an A12-class iPhone or Android 9, is rated 18+ in most territories, and sells items to $179.99, with operators partly paywalled and hit registration the loudest complaint.

Rainbow Six Mobile Review: Real Siege Rounds, Siege's Problems Shrunk to Fit

Attack, Defend, Swap: Siege's Round Structure Survives the Shrink

The format is intact. Five attackers drone the building, five defenders reinforce walls and place gadgets, roles swap each round, and the maps are the Siege maps — Bank, Clubhouse, Border, Oregon, Villa — plus mobile-only additions such as Restaurant and Summit, seven at global launch by Ubisoft's count, with more than 20 operators up from 16 in the soft launch. Destruction is the tactical layer: walls, doors and hatches break, and the August 2026 Play review that rates the game 2/5 still calls shooting through walls its most realistic touch. Ubisoft Nova took a long road here — announced April 5, 2022, soft-launched in Canada in August 2023, paused from March to November 2024 to rework progression and the economy — and the listing now shows 10 million installs and 125,000 reviews at 4.5, with 28,000 App Store ratings at 4.7.

Hit Registration, Peeker's Advantage and One Gun Per Operator

The complaints cluster on the netcode and the roster. Two Play reviews with 38 helpful votes each make the case: one from April 2026 says about half its shots pass through enemies it is aiming at and objects to operators sold behind paywalls rather than earned through the battle pass; one from February 2026 describes killcams in which the opponent never appears to fire back, blames peeker's advantage, and complains the maps feel small. An August 2026 review adds that every operator carries one primary and one secondary, attachments behave the same across operators, and unlocking operators takes too long. Ubisoft Nova replies to each with the same paragraph. Controller support is in, HUD and controls are customisable, and monthly seasons bring operators, limited modes and a battle pass — the cadence Siege players expect, on a 3.4 GB app.

$179.99 Per Item, Ads, Loot Boxes, and an 18+ Rating That Blocks Accounts

Google Play prices purchases from $0.69 to $179.99 per item; Apple's list shows the ladder — Platinum from 100 for $1.99 to 1200 for $19.99, a Premium Battle Pass at $9.99 and a Premium Elite pass at $19.99. Apple flags Loot Boxes, Advertising and In-App Purchases together, and unlike its Ubisoft sibling The Division Resurgence the Play listing carries a Contains-ads badge. The rating changed in 2026: the Play description opens with a notice that the game is now 18+ in most territories under local regulations and platform policy, so under-18 accounts may lose the ability to download or update it — Apple lists 18+ and Google Mature 17+. Requirements are iOS 16 with an A12 Bionic chip or newer, or Android 9. Google's data-safety card says Location, Financial info and three other types may be shared with third parties. Prices are regional; passes rotate monthly.

Verdict

A 6.6: the most faithful Siege on a phone, and the monetisation is why it is not a 7 or 8 — $179.99 items, loot boxes, ads and paywalled operators on top of netcode the top reviews do not trust. Take it if you know Siege and want its rounds on a recent phone, ideally with a controller and Wi-Fi. Skip it if you are under 18 where the rating now locks accounts, if hit registration complaints put you off a competitive shooter, or if you expect operators to be earned rather than bought.

Gameplay8Siege's drone-reinforce-breach round loop on real Siege maps; one primary per operator is the simplification.
Controls7Customisable HUD and controller support; touch gunfights meet netcode that two 38-vote reviews call unreliable.
Replay value8Monthly seasons with new operators, limited modes and a battle pass, seven maps and 20-plus operators.
Graphics & sound83.4 GB Siege interiors on an A12-class phone; destruction reads clearly, maps reportedly feel small.
Monetisation3$0.69 to $179.99 items, $9.99 and $19.99 passes, loot boxes, ads, and paywalled operators.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Rainbow Six Mobile offline?

No. The Play listing states that the game requires an online connection — 4G, 5G or Wi-Fi — and every mode is a live 5v5 match with server-side hit registration. There is no bot practice that works without a connection, and the February and April 2026 reviews about shots not registering are a reason to prefer Wi-Fi over a weak mobile signal.

2

Is Rainbow Six Mobile pay to win?

The shop sells access more than stats: operators sit partly behind paywalls and unlock slowly for free players, which is the April 2026 review's objection, while Platinum currency runs from $1.99 to $19.99 in packs and Google Play lists items up to $179.99. Loot boxes and advertising are flagged by Apple. Aim and map knowledge still decide rounds; the roster is where money shows. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Rainbow Six Mobile?

An iPhone with the A12 Bionic chip or newer on iOS 16 — that is iPhone XS, XR and later — with 3.4 GB free, or an Android 9 device. The other gate is age: the game is rated 18+ in most territories as of 2026, and Ubisoft warns that accounts under 18 may be unable to download or update it, so check the parental-control settings on the account before installing.

4

Can you play Rainbow Six Mobile with friends?

Yes — 5v5 is the whole game, and squads queue together for attack-and-defence matches. There is no local play. This is a separate game from the PC and console Siege, with its own roster and progression, and the store pages do not describe cross-play with them.

5

How long is a Rainbow Six Mobile match?

Shorter than Siege on console by design — Ubisoft describes matches trimmed for mobile, still built from alternating attack and defence rounds, so a match is minutes rather than a half-hour. The long clock is the monthly season: operators, limited-time modes and a battle pass reset every month, which is what keeps the roster unlock grind the August 2026 review complains about in motion.
