About Silent Reverie

Silent Reverie is a one-developer Android platformer in the Inside and Limbo tradition — a child escaped from a sinister lab onto a sealed island, running through a fog-blue monochrome world of pine forests and watchtowers, ahead of soldiers, traps and a spider-legged machine — free with ads and no purchases, from Nyan Kyaw in Myanmar, at version 3.6 since February 2026. It has 159 Google Play reviews at 3.1 and no iOS version. Players like the look; every review says the same two things stop them — controls that act on their own, and a save system that sends you back to the start.

Silent Reverie Review: A Limbo-Style Escape That Forgets Where You Were

A Lab, an Island, a Machine on Four Legs

The premise is the genre's: you were never meant to leave the lab, and you have — a small child running left to right through a silent, monochrome island built to keep secrets in and intruders out, past shadowed pines, a construction site of moving crates and spiked pits, a watchtower with soldiers and a four-legged mechanical hunter taller than the trees. Movement is agility and timing — run, jump, hide, push — with no combat, in the cinematic survival style of Inside. The look is the game's strength and every reviewer says so: an April 19, 2026 three-star that reads as a level-design report praises nothing and criticises precisely, a March 4 two-star calls the environment and designs great, and a June 1 two-star says the game has a lot of potential and could become really popular.

The Save System That Does Not, and Controls With a Mind of Their Own

Three reviews, three overlapping complaints. The June 1 two-star's is the save: progress does not actually save, and losing sends you back to the beginning, so the same section repeats until it bores. The March 4 two-star's is the controls: weird, sometimes acting on their own, forcing repeats of parts that were not the player's fault, plus a saving system it calls straight-up useless. The April 19 three-star is a bug report from someone who wants it fixed: walkable platforms at the construction site need better contrast from the background, the camera should zoom out at the gap over spikes, moving boxes clip and the player falls into them, dying twice at the site loads back to the first soldier. No reply from the developer appears. Version 3.6 on February 19, 2026 is the current build; the changelog is a welcome message rather than fixes, and there has been no update in seven months.

Free With Ads, Nothing to Buy, Nothing Collected, Android 6.0

The economy is ads alone: the listing shows advertising and no in-app purchases — the $1.06 to $7.99 item range is a store artefact — and Google's data card declares nothing collected or shared, which for a solo developer's game is a clean sheet. The floor is Android 6.0, no size is published, and there is no iOS version. Rated Teen for mild violence and blood. Play shows 10,000-plus installs and 163 ratings at 3.1. The developer publishes under a personal name from Myanmar with a game-makers education address, which is the scale of the project. Prices are not a factor; there are none.

Pros

  • A monochrome, fog-lit island in the Inside and Limbo style that reviewers call great
  • A child, a dog, soldiers and a spider machine — atmosphere without a word
  • Free with ads, no purchases, nothing collected
  • Runs on Android 6.0 with no size to speak of
  • A developer who has the eye, if not yet the systems

Cons

  • Progress does not save — losing returns you to the beginning
  • Controls that act on their own, per a March 2026 review
  • Clipping crates, low-contrast platforms and checkpoint bugs at the construction site
  • No update since February 2026 and no developer replies

Verdict

A 5.0: a good-looking Limbo-style escape from a solo developer, free and clean of data, undone by a save system that does not save and controls its own players call weird — and not updated since February. Take it for the atmosphere if you can accept restarting. Skip it if you want to finish what you start, or wait for a patch that the seven-month silence does not promise.

Gameplay5Run-and-hide platforming with the right ideas and a save system that undoes them.
Controls4Weird and self-willed, in a review's words — fatal in a game about timing.
Replay value3Replaying the opening is the bug, not the feature — nothing on record past it.
Graphics & sound7Blue-grey pines, silhouettes and a spider machine — the reason to look at it.
Monetisation6Ads only, no data — honest, with nothing to buy your way past.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Silent Reverie offline?

Yes — it is a single-player platformer with no online features and nothing collected on Google's card; only the ads need a connection. The catch is local: a June 2026 reviewer says progress does not save, so offline or online you may be starting from the beginning.

2

Is Silent Reverie free?

Yes, with ads and no in-app purchases of any kind — the item range on the Play listing is a store artefact. There is no ad-removal option and nothing to unlock. Prices are not a factor.

3

What phone do you need for Silent Reverie?

Android 6.0 or newer; no size or recommended hardware is published, and no reviewer reports performance problems — the complaints are controls and saves, which no phone will fix. There is no iPhone version, and no sign of one planned.

4

Can you play Silent Reverie with friends?

No. It is a single-player escape — one child, one island, one dog in the opening scene — with no multiplayer, co-op or sharing features on the Play listing. The soldiers and the machine are the only company.

5

How long is Silent Reverie?

An evening's worth of levels — lab, forest, construction site, watchtower — if the saves held; they do not, per the reviews, so the practical length is however many times you replay the opening sections before giving up or getting through. No reviewer on record reports finishing it.
