What Konami Has Actually Announced

The Japanese release is real and the global one is a promise. Suikoden Star Leap launched on Google Play and the App Store in Japan on August 7, 2026, and by September 20 had reached version 1.1.2 with 100,000-plus installs on Play and a 4.1 rating; its changelogs are in Japanese. Konami has said a worldwide release for iOS, Android and PC via Steam will follow and that details will be shared later, and the Steam page lists English, Japanese, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean — so the localisation is confirmed even though the date is not. There is no global pre-registration on either store. Until the English version installs, this page carries no score, no pros and cons, and no specifications beyond what the Japanese listing states; when it arrives, the buttons and the full review follow.

108 Stars, Deep Pixel Art, Timeline Battles and a War Mode

The design is the series' own, rebuilt for a phone. The story opens in year 453 of the Solar Calendar, when a lakeside village east of the Scarlet Moon Empire is attacked and burned; the protagonist, with companions Hisui, Shireen and Shapur, sets out to rebuild it and is drawn into the empire's atrocities and the history of the 27 True Runes — the Crest of Transformation among them. Recruiting the 108 Stars is the spine, as in every mainline Suikoden, and companions' growth expands both the tactics and the story's expression. Battles use a timeline turn-based system where party combinations widen the options, and the war mode — the series' army-scale battles — is included. The look is what Konami calls deep pixel art: characters, towns and dungeons in detailed 2D over painted skies, with fishing and other mini-games shown in the screenshots. Konami's own Suikoden I&II HD Remaster is the obvious reference point; this is a new story rather than a port.

Free With Random-Item Purchases, $0.99 to $64.99, Android 10

The Japanese Google Play listing sets the business model: free to download with in-app purchases from $0.99 to $64.99 and a random-items label — a gacha for characters, which for a series built on recruiting 108 of them is the question a global review will have to answer. The listing also carries an advertising badge, unusual for Konami's RPGs. Google's data-safety card lists location, personal info and five other types collected, with personal and financial info among the types shared with third parties. The Android floor is 10; Konami does not publish a size, and there is no global App Store page yet. Prices shown on the Japanese store are provisional for other regions. Nothing here can be judged until the English build exists — and no English-language outlet has reviewed the Japanese release in the sources we checked.
