Adobe Premiere Lands on Android, Free and Without a Watermark

Adobe released Premiere for Android on September 22, more than a year after the iPhone version. The core editor is free: a multi-track timeline, frame-accurate trimming, Enhance Audio for one-tap noise removal, and unlimited 4K exports with no watermark and no forced sign-in. It needs Android 13 and at least 5 GB of RAM; only extra generative-AI credits and storage cost money.

What was announced

According to Adobe's own blog post of September 22, the Android release and what sits behind the free tier. The editor is a real timeline, not a template filler: video, music, voiceovers and effects stack as separate tracks, editing is frame-accurate, and Adobe Stock effects, transitions and music are available inside the app along with templates made by other creators.

The headline audio tool, Enhance Audio, strips background noise and sharpens speech in one tap. Generative features run on Adobe's Firefly models — Generative Fill, Image-to-Video and Generate Sound Effects — and are included up to a credit allowance.

What Adobe says the free version does not do: no ads, no watermark on exports, no forced login, no upgrade prompts, and no resolution cap below 4K. Paid purchases cover extra AI credits and extra storage.

Requirements are the catch: Android 13 or later and at least 5 GB of RAM, which rules out a large share of budget phones.

Adobe lists as coming later: Adobe Fonts, better captions, keyframes, cropping, beat detection and the ability to continue a project on desktop Premiere.

What it means for players

Two caveats before switching. Keyframes and cropping are not in yet, which are basic tools in every competitor; and the desktop hand-off, the real reason to pick Adobe, is also still on the roadmap. The 5 GB RAM floor matters more than the Android 13 one — plenty of phones sold this year ship with 4 GB.

What happens next

Adobe has not dated the missing features or the desktop hand-off. The iPhone version, out since 2025, has been getting the same updates first, so Android users can expect to trail it by a release.
