Fresha's client app books salons, barbers, spas and massage studios from their live calendars and charges you nothing; the platform earns from the more than 130,000 businesses that run on its software. What sets it apart is pricing by the hour, with quiet slots discounted and busy ones open to surge prices. The catch is each business's payment policy: a stored card, a deposit, or a late-cancellation fee of up to 100%.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Clients pay the platform nothing, and its terms say any future fee would be announced first. The cost sits in each business's payment policy, shown before you confirm. A deposit can cover up to the full service price and may be non-refundable. The capture-card-details option takes no money upfront but stores your card, so a late-cancellation or no-show fee, also capped at 100% of the appointment, can be charged automatically. That is why a $0 booking can still trigger a 3D Secure approval in your bank app. A business can mark a no-show only from the start time until the end of that day, and a no-show fee cannot be reversed once charged.
Smart pricing lets a business change its online prices by day and time in both directions. Off-peak pricing lowers them, and the slot shows the saving; the store screenshots show 10% off three morning slots. Surge pricing raises them by a percentage or fixed amount, and the help center's own example is a 50% increase that simply appears as the higher price. Rules can run in windows as short as five minutes and target chosen services, team members, locations and hours. Reschedule, and the original Smart price stays with the booking. StyleSeat's Smart Pricing works similarly but can spare regulars with three or more visits.
Fresha Gift Cards carry a 16-digit code and work only for online bookings paid in full at Fresha Verified venues, marked with a purple tick; a venue may refuse one for a deposit. Tips are offered by notification after the visit, and the business receives the whole tip minus processing fees. Reviews are limited to appointments that went ahead, must be posted within 7 days, and pass automated moderation first, while Booksy allows 30 days. The service contract is with the business, so complaints start there, and the terms describe a platform refund only as a last resort at its discretion. Accounts with many cancellations, no-shows or chargebacks can be restricted.
The app comes from Fresha.com SV Ltd of London, founded in 2015 by William Zeqiri and Nick Miller and valued above $1 billion after a KKR-led $80 million round in May 2026. Card numbers go to the payment processor Adyen; the company stores the brand, cardholder name, last four digits and expiry. Apple's label links contact details and a user ID to you, and the Play form lists crash logs, diagnostics and device IDs as shared. Verifying your phone and email can attach visit records a salon already holds. When a business uses the AI Receptionist, your call may be recorded or transcribed. Play reviewers in August and September 2026 describe needing an SMS code and then an email code to sign in.

We score Fresha 7.3 for free booking from live calendars, off-peak discounts shown before you pay, and reviews limited to visits that happened. Take it if your stylist, barber or spa already takes bookings through it, or if you can shift to quieter hours. Think twice if you dislike leaving a card on file: businesses can charge up to 100% for late cancellations and no-shows, surge pricing can lift busy slots, and sign-in leans on one-time codes.

No. Clients pay nothing to use the platform, and its terms require advance notice before any fee is introduced. Costs come from the business you book: it may ask for a deposit of up to the full price, or store your card for a late-cancellation or no-show fee, under a policy shown before you confirm.
Because the business uses a capture-card-details policy. No money is taken at booking, but your card is stored in tokenised form so the business can later charge a fee you agreed to. A charge the business starts later can require a one-time code from you.
There is no fixed amount: each business sets its own, and the platform's terms cap it at 100% of the appointment value. You can cancel in the app only before the business's cutoff, such as 24 or 48 hours; after that, any refund depends on the business agreeing. A no-show fee cannot be reversed once charged.
The terms commit to deleting or returning your personal data within 30 days of the agreement ending, unless a law requires keeping it, and the privacy notice allows up to six years for legal claims. Public reviews stay up under your first name and last initial. Unredeemed vouchers and promotional credits on a closed account can be cancelled.
Booksy and StyleSeat are the closest. Booksy accepts reviews for 30 days after a visit, against 7 here, and Booksy Payments can add a Platform Fee of up to 3.5% plus $0.10. StyleSeat's Smart Pricing adds 20% for new clients at peak in its own example, while regulars with 3+ visits keep standard rates. These are US figures; fees vary by region and can change.
