About Booksy for Customers

Booksy is a free client app for booking barbers, stylists, nail techs and massage therapists who run their calendars on Booksy Biz, with live open slots, a waitlist and reviews limited to verified bookings. Businesses pay: $29.99 a month in the US plus, with Boost on, a 30% commission on a new client's first visit. The catch is that each provider sets its own deposits, cancellation fees and card surcharge, and handles disputes.

Booksy Review: Free to Book, but the Fine Print Belongs to Your Barber

No booking fee, but deposits and a 3.5% Platform Fee are the provider's call

Clients pay Booksy nothing to book. A US business pays $29.99 a month plus $20 per extra team member, and a one-time 30% commission, capped at $100, on a new client's first visit while its Boost promotion is on. A deposit is deducted at checkout but kept if you cancel late or miss the slot. A cancellation fee needs a card on file, and the terms let that card stay locked to your account until the fee window passes. Paying through Booksy Payments can add a Platform Fee of up to 3.5% plus $0.10, and a provider who charges it must also accept cash. These are US figures; prices vary by region and can change.

Booksy Pay: the 60-day window, the $10 minimum and the default tip

Booksy Pay settles the bill in the app from 60 days before the appointment until 2 hours after it ends, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App or Klarna. It covers only confirmed, fixed-price services of at least $10 without a deposit. Klarna's Pay in 4 and Pay in 30 days carry no interest, its 6-to-24-month plans run up to 35.99% APR, and all three start with a credit check. Cancel before the provider's deadline and the payment returns automatically; after it, the provider's policy decides what comes back. The weak spot is the tip: the help center lists a tip added by default as a reason for a higher total, and Play reviewers in 2025 and 2026 describe tips charged after they had changed or zeroed them.

Booksy Recommended badges, verified reviews and one-country accounts

Results are ranked by factors including distance, open slots, rating and current promotions, and the terms state that businesses paying for new-client acquisition appear higher; Boost users also get a Booksy Recommended badge. Only appointments linked to a Booksy account can be reviewed, from about 30 minutes after the visit until 30 days later, under your first name and last initial. An appointment marked canceled or no-show cannot be reviewed, and Play reviewers describe being unable to rate a provider who never turned up. Each account works in just one of 16 countries, so booking abroad means a second account. Family & Friends, by contrast, books for children, friends and pets from one account, with no member limit.

Seven ad partners, precise location and a help desk that sends you to the provider

The Play listing names Booksy International sp. z o.o. of Warsaw as developer; US users sign up with Booksy Inc. of Chicago, under terms requiring users to be 18. Google Play's Data safety form declares no data shared with third parties, yet the May 6, 2026 privacy policy names Google, Meta, TikTok, Segment, AppsFlyer, Adjust and Branch as ad and analytics partners, allows that this may count as a sale under privacy laws, and mentions session replay tools. Apple's label lists identifiers used for cross-app tracking. Both stores list precise location and contacts; Apple's label links location to you for Booksy's marketing. On disputes, the help center says Booksy does not hold the funds, and support cannot cancel, rebook or contact a provider for you.

  • Help center sends refund and fee disputes back to the provider
  • No in-app chat: reaching a provider means calling the number on their profile
  • Privacy policy names seven ad and analytics partners; Apple label lists tracking identifiers

Frequently asked questions

1

Does Booksy charge a fee to book an appointment?

No. Booksy charges clients nothing to book; businesses pay its subscription. A provider can still require a deposit, a card on file for a cancellation fee, or a Platform Fee of up to 3.5% plus $0.10 on Booksy Payments, which paying cash avoids. The provider's terms appear at booking and in the confirmation email.

2

How does Booksy Pay work?

It lets you pay in the app from 60 days before an appointment until 2 hours after it. The service must be confirmed, fixed-price, at least $10 and deposit-free. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App and Klarna work, and cancelling before the provider's deadline triggers an automatic refund.

3

How much is the Booksy cancellation fee?

There is no single amount: each provider sets its own fee, shown before you confirm, in the confirmation email and under Payment & Cancellation Policy on the profile's Details tab. If you cancelled in time and were still charged, the help center sends you to the provider, since Booksy does not hold the funds.

4

How do I delete my Booksy account?

On iPhone, go to Profile > Account Details > Account deletion process; on Android, Profile > Account & Settings > Account Details > Account deletion process. Emailing privacy@booksy.com from the registered address also works. A card tied to a booking with a pending cancellation fee can stay on file until that booking ends.

5

What are the best alternatives to Booksy?

Fresha and StyleSeat are the closest. Fresha lists 100,000 registered businesses, lets you pay in the app after the visit, and offers off-peak discounts in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. StyleSeat's Smart Pricing lets independent pros charge new clients more for peak slots, 20% in its own example.
