Best Beauty Apps for Booking and Shopping, Ranked
Fresha is the best beauty app for booking: it costs the customer nothing, books from salons' live calendars, and shows off-peak discounts before you p
The IPSY app runs a paid beauty subscription rather than standing alone: it holds the Beauty Quiz, the monthly Choice window and Add-Ons for the Original ($15 a month), Extra ($32) and quarterly Ultimate ($65) plans. Its edge is control, with up to three products picked by you in each Extra or Ultimate shipment. Its limit is the calendar: change plans after the 25th and next month is already billed.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The app costs nothing, and Google Play lists no in-app purchases: the company bills memberships directly. Original sends five deluxe samples in a Glam Bag for $15 a month, one of them your pick. Extra, renamed from BoxyCharm in March 2026, ships five full-size products for $32, three of them chosen by you. Ultimate is not a standalone plan: for $65 it replaces your Original or Extra shipment in February, May, August and November with eight full-size products, three of them yours to pick. US members pay $1.99 shipping on each monthly shipment. Every tier gets Add-Ons, up to 15 extra items a month priced from $3.50 to $50, which travel free in the same bag. Prices are US figures from our October 2026 check and can change.
Personalization starts with the Beauty Quiz, which rates each product type Rarely, Sometimes or Often. There is no never: the help center says it cannot guarantee that items marked Rarely stay out, and Google Play reviews with more than 100 helpful votes have asked for it since 2020. The company also says it cannot tailor shipments around allergies. Control comes from Choice. Extra and Ultimate members pick their three products between 12 p.m. PT on the 1st and 3 p.m. PT on the 4th, while Original's single pick opens sometime between the 25th and 29th. Miss the window and the curators fill the slot; submit, and the pick is locked.
Every membership change, including a skipped month, has to be made by 11:59 p.m. PT on the 25th; act on the 26th and the next shipment is billed and sent anyway. Canceling is a seven-step flow with a second login, done separately for Original and Extra. Subscriptions are not refunded or exchanged; only missing or damaged items are replaced, within 45 days of shipping. Of the 163 English-language Google Play reviews from 2026 we read, 20 bring up canceling, mostly to report difficulty or a charge that came after it. Leaving also costs loyalty: IPSY Rewards, which replaced points on September 15, 2026, pays a streak reward every four consecutive months, and a pause or cancellation resets the count.
Apple's privacy label lists purchases, contact info, identifiers and usage data as data that may be used to track you across other companies' apps. On Android, the Data safety form declares name, email, address, phone number, device IDs, search history and purchase history, mostly also for marketing. The privacy notice behind both was last updated on December 30, 2022; it allows sharing personal information with ad networks such as Facebook and says chats with the Glam Bot assistant may be recorded. The product review form carries a checkbox saying reviews may be shared with third-party partners. Support has no phone line, and full account deletion goes through IPSY Care.

We score IPSY 6.6: Extra lets you choose three of five full-size products at clearly listed prices, but the app draws 2026 complaints about speed, and the rules are strict, with a hard 25th deadline, no subscription refunds and a tracking-heavy privacy label. Take it if you want new products every month and will calendar the 1st-to-4th Choice window. Skip it if you have allergies, want to rule product types out completely, or prefer buying full-size only when you run out.

Yes, the app is free and has no ads or in-app purchases on Google Play, but almost everything in it serves a paid membership. Original costs $15 a month plus $1.99 US shipping, Extra $32, and the quarterly Ultimate upgrade $65. These are US prices as of October 2026; they vary by region and can change.
Partly. Original members choose one of five samples, Extra members three of five full-size products, and Ultimate members three of eight. Extra and Ultimate picks open at 12 p.m. PT on the 1st and close at 3 p.m. PT on the 4th; Original's window falls between the 25th and 29th.
It is if you already use full-size products: five a month, three picked by you, against a value of up to $200 that the company sets itself. Add $1.99 US shipping. Beauty Boost adds one premium item worth at least $40 for $15 more a month. Prices vary by region, so check the current one in your account.
Cancel from your account by 11:59 p.m. PT on the 25th; after that, the next shipment is still billed and sent. The flow asks you to log in again before the final Continue Cancellation step, and Original and Extra must be canceled one by one. Subscription charges are not refunded, and canceling resets your Rewards streak.
Allure Beauty Box costs $30 a month for six editor-curated products and ships free in the contiguous US. Ulta Beauty Rewards is free to join and earns points on every dollar spent, which suits people who would rather buy full-size products only when they run out. Check current prices and terms with each provider.
