About Booksy Biz: Booking & Payments

Booksy Biz is the paid half of Booksy: the calendar, checkout and marketing app for barbers, stylists and salons, whose clients book free in Booksy for Customers. In the US it costs $29.99 a month plus $20 per extra staffer after a 14-day trial, with every feature in one plan. The catch is Boost, which takes 30% of a new client's first visit, up to $100, and reviewers dispute which clients it really found.

Booksy Biz Review: One Flat Plan for the Tools, a 30% Toll on Boost Clients

Is Booksy Biz free? $29.99 a month, $20 per staffer, nothing for clients

No. After a 14-day trial that needs no card, a US business pays $29.99 a month plus tax and $20 for each extra team member. Through the App Store, an owner with six staffers pays $149.99, and removing a seat there means buying a new subscription. The single plan includes 2,000 marketing texts a month, while reminders, confirmations and emails are free. Clients pay no booking fee: they book in Booksy for Customers, on the website or through Book Now buttons on Instagram, Facebook and Google. The phone app is lighter, though: shifts, inventory, staff commissions, cash registers and split payments stay in the web and tablet version. US prices; they vary by region and can change.

Boost: 30% of a first visit, a $10 floor, a $100 cap and a claim deadline

Boost is the opt-in promotion that lifts a business in marketplace results and adds a Booksy Recommended badge. It has no monthly fee: a client's first visit while Boost is on costs 30% of the base service price, at least $10 and at most $100. Tips and add-ons are excluded, later visits are free, and a no-show marked the same day is not billed. The weak spot is attribution: Play reviewers in English, Spanish and Polish describe commissions on clients who came from their own Instagram, Google Ads or a QR code in the shop. The remedy is a claim under Marketing > Boost > Boost details, due by the end of the billing period plus 7 days; approved refunds take up to 14 business days.

Card fees from 2.49% + $0.10, and a Platform Fee that bills clients instead

Booksy Payments runs on Stripe with no monthly fee, and each method has its own rate: 2.49% + $0.10 on the Booksy Card Reader, 2.49% + $0.20 with Tap to Pay, and 2.69% + $0.30 for cards on file, deposits and cancellation fees. Refunds carry the same rates, and a chargeback costs a flat $20. The Platform Fee setting can shift that cost to clients: they pay 3.5% + $0.10 and you pay nothing, or you split it at 1% for you and 2.5% + $0.10 for them. It is unavailable in California, New York and five other states, and never applies to deposits or cancellation fees. Payouts are free the next business day; Fast Payouts land within 30 minutes for 1.5%, from $50 to $500 a day.

What Google Play and Apple's labels list, and an exit that runs through email

Booksy International sp. z o.o., the Warsaw company behind both apps, states in Google Play's Data safety form that it shares no data with third parties. The same form lists name, email and phone number, plus optional contacts, approximate location, payment info and race and ethnicity, the last three for fraud prevention and compliance. Apple's label adds identifiers used to track you across other companies' apps and sites. Leaving is the awkward part: the help center's route for both cancelling the account and getting a copy of your client list with contact details is an email to info.us@booksy.com, and one Play reviewer in December 2025 described waiting weeks for that file.

Pros

  • One plan includes every feature, with 2,000 marketing texts a month
  • No-Show Protection takes deposits from $5 or auto-charges card-on-file cancellation fees
  • AI Receptionist beta answers phone calls and books them in English or Spanish
  • Free next-business-day payouts, or 30-minute Fast Payouts for 1.5%
  • 24/7 live chat inside the app, plus email support

Cons

  • Reviewers report Boost commissions on clients from their own Instagram, ads or walk-ins
  • Shifts, inventory, staff commissions and split payments need the web or tablet version
  • Cancelling the account and exporting the client list both require emailing support
  • Each extra staffer adds $20 a month, while StyleSeat charges no per-seat fee

Verdict

We score Booksy Biz 7.1 for one $29.99 plan covering booking, No-Show Protection, marketing texts, three ways to take cards and a beta AI receptionist. Take it if your clients already book on Booksy, or if you work solo and want deposits and reminders without add-ons. Think twice if you run a team, as each staffer adds $20 a month, or if you would rely on Boost, whose 30% first-visit fee reviewers say hits clients they found themselves.

Core function8.5Calendar, booking via Google, Instagram and Facebook, No-Show Protection, a waitlist that texts clients, three card options and an AI receptionist.
Ease of use7.5Every tool sits in one plan with 24/7 chat, but the phone app lacks shifts, inventory and split payments.
Monetisation6.0$29.99 plus $20 per staffer, Boost at 30% up to $100, and card rates up to 2.69% + $0.30.
Performance6.525 iPhone updates from July 1 to September 28, 2026, yet Android reviewers still report endless loading screens and reinstalls.
Privacy & permissions6.0Optional race and ethnicity, contacts and location fields, Apple-listed tracking identifiers, and a client-list copy only by emailing support.

2

How does the Booksy Boost commission work?

It charges 30% of the base service price once, on the first visit of a client who books you for the first time while Boost is on, with a $10 minimum and a $100 maximum.
