About SeatGeek - Buy Event Tickets

SeatGeek charges buyer fees, but All-In Pricing folds every mandatory fee into the event-page price, leaving only sales tax, shipping and optional add-ons for checkout. The New York company runs a resale marketplace, is official ticketer for several NFL teams and rates listings with a 1-to-10 Deal Score. The catch: fees are not refunded outside its Buyer Guarantee, and refunds for canceled events may default to account credit.

SeatGeek Review: Fees Shown Up Front, Refunds That May Arrive as Credit

All-In Pricing: what the event-page price includes, and what it leaves out

Sellers set resale prices, which can land above or below face value, though some events carry minimum or maximum prices set by the team, venue, artist or promoter. The help center says the event-page price includes every mandatory fee; only sales tax, shipping for physical tickets and add-ons you choose are added at checkout. No fee percentage is published. Fees vary by event, may be set by the team, venue or promoter rather than by SeatGeek, and are generally not refunded outside the Buyer Guarantee, because all sales are final. TickPick takes the opposite route: no buyer fees, with a 15% commission charged to sellers instead.

What the Buyer Guarantee covers, and the 48-hour Refundable Tickets add-on

The Buyer Guarantee promises tickets that arrive before the event, scan at the gate and match your order; if one fails, you get comparable or better seats or a refund, provided you report the issue promptly. It excludes mistaken purchases, changed plans, lineup changes, entry refused under venue rules, and travel, hotel or parking costs. Officially canceled events are refunded without a support request, usually within 3–10 business days, though the terms allow credit instead where state law permits. Postponed events are not refunded. For select events, a Refundable Tickets add-on bought at checkout lets you cancel the whole order up to 48 hours before the start, minus its own service charge.

Reselling: a 10% fee, Smart Pricing and payment after the event

Selling starts from the Sell button on tickets already delivered to your account. A listing tops out at eight tickets, and payouts go only to US or Canadian residents with a bank account in that country. The help page for MLB sellers puts the seller fee at 10% of your price, below TickPick's 15%. Smart Pricing reprices a listing as often as every few minutes toward Sell Fast, Balanced or Sell Big, above an optional floor, at no extra charge. Payouts leave two business days after the event and arrive within 5–7 business days. Sellers who miss delivery deadlines, as short as two hours before showtime, can be billed for replacement tickets and lose the payout.

Where it falls short: 15-second barcodes, 9 a.m.–1 a.m. support and one-recipient transfers

Of the 150 newest English Google Play reviews we read, posted August 20 to September 30, 2026, 61 gave one star, mostly over tickets that arrived late or did not scan, no phone line, and orders routed to the MLB Ballpark app or Ticketmaster. Some of that is by design: NFL tickets are mobile-only, with barcodes that refresh every 15 seconds, so screenshots fail at the gate. Support runs 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern; phone help comes only within seven days of your event. Tickets stored in the app move to another SeatGeek account through Transfer, cancelable until accepted, but splitting one event's tickets among several recipients is not supported, and sending several events at once works only on the website.

Pros

  • All-In Pricing puts every mandatory fee into the event-page price
  • Deal Score rates listings 1 to 10 using price history, section and view
  • Canceled events are refunded or credited without filing a support request
  • Seller fee of 10% undercuts the 15% commission TickPick charges
  • Smart Pricing reprices resale listings automatically at no extra charge

Cons

  • Fees are non-refundable outside the Buyer Guarantee, and no fee percentage is published
  • Refunds for canceled events may default to SeatGeek Credit, which cannot be cashed out
  • Phone support only within seven days of your event; support hours end 1 a.m. ET
  • Some orders arrive as MLB Ballpark, AXS or Ticketmaster transfers, not in-app tickets

Verdict

We scored it 6.8. All-In Pricing, a 1-to-10 Deal Score, a 10% seller fee and free Smart Pricing earn the score; non-refundable fees, refunds that may default to credit, thin phone support and a run of one-star Android reviews pull it down. Take it if you resell often or follow a team that uses it as official ticketer. Skip it if you want guaranteed cash back for any cancellation, phone help before event week, or prices without buyer fees.

Frequently asked questions

1

Does SeatGeek charge fees?

Yes. Buyers pay service and marketplace fees, but All-In Pricing includes every mandatory fee in the price on the event page, so only sales tax, shipping and optional add-ons are added at checkout. SeatGeek publishes no fee percentage, and fees are generally not refunded outside the Buyer Guarantee. Sellers pay a separate 10% fee.

2

What does the SeatGeek Buyer Guarantee cover?

It covers tickets that arrive late, fail to scan or differ from your order, with comparable or better seats or a refund as the remedy, and it treats unplayed playoff games as canceled. It excludes mistaken purchases, changed plans, lineup changes, entry refused under venue rules, and travel or parking costs. Report problems right away.

3

How much does SeatGeek take when you sell tickets?

The help page for MLB sellers puts it at 10%: you receive your listing price minus 10%, and Smart Pricing costs nothing extra. Payment goes out two business days after the event and arrives within 5–7 business days. Listings of $2,500 or more need an SSN or EIN before going live. Fees can vary by event and change.

4

Can I get a refund from SeatGeek if my event is canceled or postponed?

For a canceled event, yes: SeatGeek contacts buyers and refunds the purchase price, usually within 3–10 business days. For many cancellations SeatGeek Credit is the default, and switching to cash, where eligible, requires that none of the credit has been used. Postponed events are not refunded unless state law requires it; your tickets stay valid, or you can resell them.

5

Is SeatGeek better than StubHub or TickPick?

On fees, TickPick is the clearer deal for buyers: it charges no buyer fees and takes 15% from sellers, while SeatGeek charges buyers and takes 10% from sellers. StubHub's FanProtect makes a similar replacement-or-refund promise and keeps postponed tickets valid. Ticketmaster rates 2.5 on Google Play from 204,000 reviews, against 4.5 here.
