CarX Street Review: Sunset City's Physics Are the Draw, the Grind Is the Price

Real Physics on an Open Map, With Clubs, Houses and Gas Stations

The pitch is the CarX Technology handling model — the one from CarX Drift Racing 2 — in an open city: Sunset City's highways and streets plus a mountain area sold separately, races at top speed or sideways, clubs with bosses to beat, gas stations, houses for a growing collection, and a garage where you swap engines, transmissions, suspension and tyres and watch the dyno curve change. The most-voted Google Play review, July 25, 2025 with 2,755 votes and 76 hours in, calls it among the best games on mobile, with one physics note — the car understeers more in club races than in free driving at Sunset Speedway. App Store reviews compare it to Need for Speed Underground 2 and Burnout Paradise. The September 10, 2026 update, version 1.22, added Car Dealership 2.0, animated neon, a Nitro part, Time Attack and Drift King highway races and Traffic Master, an offline mode. Rated 4+ and Everyone, in ten languages.

Twenty-Five Hours and Still Starting: the Grind, the Understeer and the Clutch Button

The reviews from three years split on one axis. A September 2024 five-star with 25 hours says plainly that you are still at the beginning, that a supercar in a week will never happen, and that the game takes time; an August 2026 five-star bought the mountain area and loved it more. The other side, a September 15, 2026 Play two-star from a racer since Rally-X: 25 seconds short on a time trial in a car the game provides, ridiculous understeer in races, dreadfully slow progress, pathetically expensive upgrades, purchases that cost more than console games, an unmovable clutch button and automatic counter-steer physics. Older complaints are technical — a November 2024 three-star reports sudden frame drops and a tyre gauge that lies before a blowout — and a July 2026 five-star admits that AI racers use three cars to block you so the fourth wins. Ratings: 4.6 from 675,000 on Play, 4.6 from 146,287 on the App Store.

Ads, a $1.99 Weekly Premium, Silver Sets to $19.99 and a Mountain to Buy

Both stores carry advertising, and the shop is currency-shaped: Silver sets from a $0.99 limited pack through Balanced at $3.99, Big at $5.99, Large at $9.99 and Gigantic at $19.99, Gold sets from $1.99, a Premium 7-day pass at $1.99, Hot Start at $1.99 and Road Warrior at $7.99 on the App Store; Google Play prices items to $139.99. Beyond currency there is the map — the mountain area an August 2026 reviewer paid for — and cars sold for real money, which a January 2025 five-star suggests should unlock at a level. Neither store shows a loot-box flag. Apple's tracking list is User Content not linked to you; Google's data-safety card lists Personal info, App info and Device IDs collected.
