FREELIFE Review (Beta): A Voxel GTA That Is Still a Test Build

What 202studio Has Put Out So Far

The Singapore-registered studio — TWO ZERO TWO PTE. LTD. on the listing, 202studio on Steam — has been public with a trailer titled Freelife: A City of New Beginnings, Coming to Google Play in 2026, and a Steam Early Access page marked Coming soon with English and Chinese audio. The Google Play build is the thing people are actually playing: version 2026-02-12-912, last updated February 23, 2026, no version or Android floor stated on the listing, 1,000-plus installs, 17 written reviews and a 4.2. A June 2026 reviewer notes that the Chinese version on TapTap needs a TapTap account, which is why they tried this one. Steam lists it as an MMO with online PvP and co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, and PC requirements of a dual-core CPU with AVX2 and 4 GB of RAM. No launch date has been named for either platform.

Sunglasses, an Aloha Shirt and a Righteous Squad

The pitch is GTA with a twist of civic duty: drive luxury cars, carry weapons and explore without limits, but form a righteous squad and maintain order — put on your sunglasses, wear your aloha T-shirt and step into the streets, the listing says. What testers describe matches the unfinished map a four-star April 2026 review mentions: a March review in Filipino complains that cars have no drivers and cannot be stolen, unlike GTA 5, and a May reviewer with five votes lists shadows, draw distance and resolution as settings the game still needs.

Lag Is the Whole Review Thread, and Login Broke in August

Of 17 reviews, 8 are five stars and 4 are one or two, and almost every one says the same word: optimisation. Too much lag in March, so much lag and bugs in March, laging please fix the lag the same week; the most-voted one-star, three votes from March 15, wants graphics settings because the lowest preset removes props from the scene. The good reviews say the same with a smile — best gangster game on Android, GTA 5 in pixel style, huge potential once cleaned up. The newest review, August 19, 2026, reports Google login authentication failing, which on an untouched February build is worth knowing before you install. There are no ads and no in-app purchases in the test build, and Google's data-safety card lists app activity, performance data and device IDs collected. A beta 5.5: a voxel GTA with a real city and real ambition, judged on a February test build that lags, lacks graphics options and, as of August, sometimes will not log in. Take it if you want a co-op block-city sandbox now and can forgive a beta. Skip it until the 2026 release if lag or a broken login would end it for you.

No, and it will not be designed to: the Steam page lists it as an MMO with online co-op and PvP, the Play build signs in through Google, and an August 2026 reviewer could not get past that login. Expect a server-bound game at release; this page will state the answer from the launch build.
