Best Rhythm and Music Games on Mobile, Ranked
Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage is the best rhythm game on a phone: six difficulty tiers up to a three-finger Append level, and every song unlocks throug
Amanotes' four-lane piano tile game is free to install, but the free tier runs on ads: players describe one when opening a locked song, at each revive and between crown phases, and Amanotes confirms a No Ads purchase leaves the song-unlock ads in place. VIP in the US App Store runs from $3.49 a week to $49.99 a year. The draw is a catalogue claimed at 45,000+ tracks, some of them covers.

Each song is a four-lane chart that speeds up in stages: three stars for the first pass, three crowns at faster tempos, then an endless phase that accelerates until you slip. A single missed tile stops the music, so the real economy is revives. Free players pay for them with video ads, and Google Play reviews from August and September 2026 count four or five ads per song: on opening a locked track, between crown phases, at a revive and after the result screen. Amanotes' replies concede ads at launch and on fail or finish, and point to Skip Ad Tickets from seasonal passes such as MEOW Pass, No Ads rewards and occasional free VIP from Daily Missions.
The Google Play listing claims 45,000+ songs, the App Store's VIP list says 50,000+, and the same App Store text still mentions about a thousand, so treat the headline figure loosely. The licensing is documented: in November 2024 Music Week reported an Amanotes deal for most of the NCS catalogue, over 1,500 electronic tracks, for this game, Tiles Hop and Dancing Road, after a 2020 Monstercat partnership across 30-plus Amanotes titles. The catch is the vocals: reviewers in 2025 and 2026 report pop hits that keep the original backing track under a different singer, and several object to AI-generated song backgrounds. Kooapps' Piano Tiles 2 lists 700+ songs with a classical lean instead.
The US App Store lists VIP from $3.49 a week to $49.99 a year, plus a $9.99 Remove Ads item; Google Play reviewers in 2026 quote about $6 a week. Prices vary by region and may change. VIP removes ads and adds the premium songs, free revives, offline downloads and unlimited private Battle Mode rooms, but albums are excluded. In a July 2026 reply Amanotes confirmed that the No Ads subscription leaves the song-unlock ads. Billing runs through Apple or Google: Amanotes' terms say it cannot cancel or refund a plan, and the App Store text rules out cancelling mid-period, so turn renewal off at least 24 hours before it ends. Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese reviews from August and September 2026 describe unexpected charges and no cancel button in the game.
Amanotes Pte. Ltd. is registered in Singapore and was named among Vietnam's 100 Best Places to Work in 2023; founders Bill Vo and Silver told Google's #WeArePlay series in July 2025 that Google Play was their first platform. By July 2023 the company counted 3 billion downloads, over 1 billion from this game. Amanotes' privacy policy, dated April 9, 2025, lists 40 advertising and analytics partners, including AppLovin, ironSource and Kidoz. Google Play's data safety form says approximate location, device IDs and purchase history may be shared for advertising, and Apple's label says identifiers and usage data may be used to track you. Known users under 16, the policy says, have their data neither sold nor shared.

We score it 6.4: the tile loop, a catalogue claimed at 45,000+ songs and live Battle Mode are solid, but reviewers count four or five ads per song and VIP is billed weekly. Take it for current pop and phonk on a four-lane chart if you can tolerate ads or will pay for VIP. Skip it if you want original vocals throughout, a one-time purchase, or rock: Piano Tiles 2 comes ad-free with Google Play Pass, and Guitar Band: Rock Battle is built around guitar rock.

Partly. Songs you have already downloaded play without a connection, which Amanotes has endorsed in replies to players, but new songs and Battle Mode need internet. The App Store lists offline downloads among VIP perks, and the privacy policy says offline gameplay data is stored on the device and uploaded once you reconnect.
Only if ads are what stop you. The US App Store lists VIP from $3.49 a week to $49.99 a year, and Google Play reviewers in 2026 quote about $6 a week; prices vary by region. VIP removes ads, opens premium songs and adds free revives, but albums cost extra. Free routes are Skip Ad Tickets from seasonal passes and occasional VIP days from Daily Missions.
Android 7.0 or later, or iOS and iPadOS 15.6 or later; Apple also lists M1 Macs and Apple Vision Pro, and Google Play offers a Windows version through Google Play Games. The iPhone download is 700.4 MB. Reviewers report lag spikes and missed taps, especially right after an ad closes.
Yes, through Battle Mode, a real-time duel in which two players race through the same song on a split screen. You can match with random players or open a private room for friends; VIP removes the cap on private rooms. Battle Mode needs an internet connection.
A run lasts as long as you avoid a miss: each song climbs through three stars and three crowns before an endless phase. Free sessions are paced by ads more than by songs. Content is not the limit: Amanotes shipped at least 25 iOS builds between January 30 and September 18, 2026 and runs seasonal passes such as October's Witch Pass.
