Best Rhythm and Music Games on Mobile, Ranked
Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage is the best rhythm game on a phone: six difficulty tiers up to a three-finger Append level, and every song unlocks throug
D4DJ Groovy Mix is a free-to-play anime rhythm game run by Donuts, and its charts end in a pair of turntables, so scratch notes and sliders share the lane with ordinary taps. A separate DJ Time mode swaps the chart for a mixer with filters and effect pads. The English build was still getting updates in late September 2026. The catch is cost: a March 2026 update started selling individual songs.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The core loop runs through four live modes. Free Live is solo play for practice and scores; Medley Live chains four songs into one set and mixes the transitions during play; Multi Live puts you in a room with up to three other players; and DJ Time replaces the note chart with a mixer, where you fire Phaser, Echo, Gate and BitCrusher pads and ride low- and high-pass filters while earning the same rewards as a normal live. Every live spends Voltage, the stamina meter, and since the May 2026 anniversary update the client can burn recovery items automatically when it runs short. Rewards feed member training: maxing out a ★4 member unlocks animated card art. The ceiling moved in January 2026, when a new GROOVY difficulty joined the chart list.
The lane ends in two turntables, so charts mix scratch notes and sliders with ordinary taps, while HATSUNE MIKU: COLORFUL STAGE! builds its charts on taps, holds and flicks. Manual mode makes you handle every scratch yourself; Audience Mode plays the whole chart hands-free for players who came for the stories and music, much as Assist Mode does in BanG Dream! Our Notes. Judgment has needed work: Notes Judgment v2 arrived as a beta in November 2025, and a December patch improved tap detection next to scratch notes. Skill-only play got its showcase in September 2026, when the Groovy Mix Cup ranked a Technical Score with card skills switched off, open to anyone at Dig Rank 10 or higher, with no Voltage cost and a daily attempt limit.
A March 2026 update added a song purchase feature, a month after another new unlock route, and recent Google Play reviews name paid songs as a main complaint, along with licensed tracks leaving the library. The App Store lists LIVE PASS and D4PASS at $4.99 each and a Daily Diamond Box at $9.99; Google Play puts single items at up to $169.99. The official web store sells Diamonds by card, from 125 for $0.99 up to 14,750 for $90.99, a bundle capped at three a month. Apple's age rating flags loot boxes, festival banners advertise a 3x ★4 rate, and we found no base odds published outside the client. Data is the other cost: Apple's label says purchases, identifiers and usage data may be used for tracking, and Google Play's label says your data can't be deleted. US prices; they vary by region and can change.

We score it 7.6 because DJ Time, four-song medleys, turntable scratch charts and a skill-only Groovy Mix Cup give it more mechanical identity than most anime rhythm games, while paid songs, $4.99 passes and unpublished base odds pull Monetisation down to 6.0. Take it if you want stranger charts than HATSUNE MIKU: COLORFUL STAGE! or own a phone below that game's Android 8.0 floor. Skip it if you expect every song to unlock through play, need offline mode, or want five-player rooms like BanG Dream! Our Notes.

No offline mode is listed on either store page or the official site, so plan on a connection for every mode. Lives spend Voltage, events rank you against other players, and 2026 Google Play reviews describe the title screen stalling on a "Failed to connect to server" message. Story chapters and member art also keep arriving through in-game updates.
Not in its skill contest, but money buys speed elsewhere. The Groovy Mix Cup ranks a Technical Score with card skills switched off, so accuracy can't be bought there. Event rankings use card-powered scores, and paid routes include gacha Diamonds, the $4.99 LIVE PASS and D4PASS, and individual songs since March 2026. Prices are US figures and vary by region.
Android 6.0 or later, or iOS 15 or later on iPhone and iPad. The iOS download is more than twice the size of the Android one, and players report frequent extra downloads for stories and events. Google Play reviews from 2023 to 2026 report lag on some Android phones, including a Pixel 4, while ProMotion iPhones get a 120 FPS option.
Yes. Multi Live puts up to four players in one room on the same song, and a February 2026 patch fixed rooms that took too long to match or failed to match. There is no cross-play with the Japanese version: the English app is a separate build, and the one-way account transfer from Japan closed in June 2021.
Yes. The English build received updates on September 7 and September 29, 2026, the second adding a collaboration event, and the official site ran an event campaign the same month. The library holds more than 130 songs, the six original units each have a voiced story, and newer units such as Abyssmare and EGOEGG appear in 2026 events and stories.
