About Piano Pop

Piano Pop is a tile-tapping rhythm game from MWM, the French studio behind Edjing Mix. Notes fall down four lanes onto a fixed row of keys, and each hit is graded Perfect+, Perfect or Good, whereas Magic Tiles 3 has you tap the moving tiles themselves. The catch is money: a $7.99 Weekly Premium Pass removes ads, and free players report an ad after nearly every song.

Piano Pop Review: Fair Timing, Pushy Ads and a $7.99 Weekly Pass

Four Fixed Keys and Perfect+ Grading: How a Song Plays

Tiles slide down four lanes onto a row of keys at the bottom, and you tap a key as its tile lands; long tiles are held until the glowing trail runs out. MWM's screenshots show each hit graded Perfect+, Perfect or Good, a score multiplier and up to five stars per song. Magic Tiles 3 and Kooapps' Piano Tiles 2 instead ask you to tap the black tiles wherever they are. A miss costs your streak rather than the song, and Google Play reviewers say several mistakes pass before an optional ad to continue appears. A May 2026 App Store review rates its hit registration above Magic Tiles 3 on Rush E; an August one says the key row sits too low for thumbs.

Fur Elise to Golden Hour: What the Song List Holds

The home screen sorts songs into tabs such as Classic, Modern, Lullabies and Folk, and the store listing promises pop, rock, K-Pop and classical tracks with new songs every week. MWM's screenshots pair Fur Elise and Twinkle Twinkle, both tagged Easy, with Rush E, tagged Hard, and JVKE's Golden Hour. Players dispute the quality: 8 of the 50 most recent US App Store reviews object to AI-generated songs or cover art, and others say pop hits play as covers. Answering a March 2026 Google Play review, MWM said it had noted the feedback on AI art. After version 2.00.00 arrived on August 20, 2026, reviewers wrote that charts such as Rush E and Flight of the Bumblebee had become easier.

$7.99 a Week: Premium Pass, Trial Prompts and Cancelling

MWM's review replies call the subscription optional and ad-free. The US App Store lists ten Premium items from $3.99 to $69.99, including a $7.99 Weekly Premium Pass; Google Play shows $3.99 to $44.99 per item, and prices vary by region. Magic Tiles 3 advertises VIP at $3.49 a week and sells Remove Ads for $9.99, Piano Tiles 2 sells it for $4.99, and no item here is named as a one-time ad removal. MWM's terms say plans renew automatically, must be cancelled through Apple or Google at least 24 hours before the next billing date and are never refunded pro rata; buyers must be 18. Nine of the 50 latest App Store reviews object to trial or payment prompts, and one says charges continued after cancelling.

Rated 4+, Written for 16+: Ads, Tracking and Your Data

Apple rates the game 4+ and Google Play rates it Everyone, yet MWM's privacy policy, updated January 22, 2024, says its services are designed for people aged 16 and over. On first launch a consent prompt asks to pass the advertising ID and data such as location to ad and analytics partners; opting out keeps the ads but makes them untargeted. Apple's privacy label lists identifiers as data used to track you. Google Play's data safety form says device IDs are shared for advertising and offers no deletion request, while the policy grants deletion rights by email. Ten of the 50 newest App Store reviews complain about ads, most often one after each finished song.

Pros

  • Fixed four-key row grades every hit Perfect+, Perfect or Good
  • A missed tile breaks your streak instead of ending the song
  • Song tabs run from Beethoven's Fur Elise to JVKE's Golden Hour
  • Versus tab and global leaderboards add online competition to each song
  • Runs on Android 7.0+, iOS 15+, M1 Macs and Apple Vision

Cons

  • A $7.99 Weekly Premium Pass, and no item named as one-time ad removal
  • Ten of the 50 latest App Store reviews complain about ads between songs
  • Eight of those 50 reviews object to AI-generated songs or cover art
  • Android reviews from December 2025 to April 2026 describe freezes at the tutorial

Verdict

We score it 6.3: the fixed key row and Perfect+ grading make timing feel fair, and the song tabs mix Beethoven with current pop. Take it if you want a piano tiles game that forgives a few misses and you can live with ads or $7.99 a week. Skip it if AI-made art and cover versions bother you, if a child could start a trial unnoticed, or if you would rather pay once to remove ads, as Piano Tiles 2 allows.

Gameplay8.0Four fixed keys, hold notes and Perfect+ to Good grading make each run a clean timing test.
Controls7.0Reviewers praise hit registration, but the key row hugs the bottom edge and streak pop-ups cover lanes.
Replay value6.5Stars, levels, Versus and promised weekly songs help, yet reviewers say hard charts were eased in August 2026.
Graphics & sound5.5Neon lanes read clearly, but 8 of 50 recent reviews object to AI-made songs or cover art.
Monetisation4.0A $7.99 weekly pass, frequent ads, trial prompts and no pro-rata refunds weigh on free and paying players.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Piano Pop offline?

Yes, once it is set up. MWM's app page lists offline play, but its support team says an internet connection is recommended the first time you open the game and is needed to download new content. One Google Play reviewer got stuck on a no-internet message at first launch.

2

Is Piano Pop free to play?

Yes, with ads. The download is free and MWM calls the subscription optional, though reviewers describe trial offers on the opening screens. The US App Store lists a $7.99 Weekly Premium Pass among ten Premium items from $3.99 to $69.99; prices vary by region. Cancel through Apple or Google at least 24 hours before renewal, as MWM gives no partial refunds.

3

What devices does Piano Pop run on?

Android phones on version 7.0 or later, iPhones and iPads on iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, Macs with an Apple M1 chip or newer on macOS 12, and Apple Vision on visionOS 1.0. The Android download is about 140 MB and the iPhone app about 256 MB.

4

Can you play Piano Pop with friends?

Only online. The Versus tab matches you against other players, and the store listing mentions challenges and leaderboards against friends and global players, but no local multiplayer. An August 2026 App Store review says Versus moved from one-on-one duels to a Battle Royale that often picks Extreme songs.

5

Does Piano Pop have an ending?

No. Each song awards up to five stars, the stars fill a level meter, and new levels open more songs, while MWM promises fresh tracks every week. Several App Store reviewers say the hardest charts are too easy and want tougher songs, especially since, they say, the August 2026 update simplified Rush E.
