About My Singing Monsters

My Singing Monsters is a Big Blue Bubble breeding sim in which every monster plays one part of its island's song, so each hatchling adds an instrument. Since 2012 it has grown past 25 islands, including Composer Island, where you write tracks note by note. The trade-off is time: breeding runs on timers that Diamonds or video ads shorten, and forced ads stop only after a purchase.

My Singing Monsters Review: Inventive Songs, Slow Timers and Pushy Ads

Two Level 4 Parents, One Nursery Slot: How the Breeding Loop Runs

Filling Plant Island and the other Natural Islands builds a song layer by layer, and each resident also generates Coins. New species come from the Breeding Structure: pair two Level 4 monsters with different elements, and a repeated element just returns one of the parents. Ethereals, Seasonals, Mythicals and Epics follow secret combinations, and Wishing Torches, unlocked at Level 12, improve those odds. The egg then waits in the Nursery, which holds one at a time. Breeding length depends on the species; Diamonds or a video ad shorten any wait, and the Enhanced Breeding Structure and Enhanced Nursery cut times by 25%. Socialpoint's Dragon City runs a similar hybrid loop across 2,000-plus dragons, with PvP battles as the payoff instead of a song.

Composer Island and the Recording Studio: Writing Your Own Parts

Composer Island turns the island song into an editor. After placing a monster, the Compose button opens a music staff, and each note you tap onto the bar lines appears as one of that monster's eggs. Extra Composer Islands cost Diamonds. The Recording Studio replaces a monster's part with your own recording; it needs microphone access, and Big Blue Bubble says other players cannot hear these recordings, to keep the game family-friendly. A Time Machine speeds up or slows an island's tempo. For pure music-making, Incredibox, a $4.99 app from So Far So Good, exports finished mixes as MP3 files; here, the help center's suggested way to share a recorded part is a gameplay video.

$0.99 Ends Forced Ads, but Clubbox Tickets Keep Selling

Any in-app purchase turns an account Premium. That status removes forced third-party ads, makes Collect All unlimited, adds a Maximum Mine on Plant Island and unlocks the Bonus Breeding Structure and Bonus Nursery. On the US App Store the cheapest packs, a Coin Purse and a Ladle of Diamonds, cost $0.99, and the priciest listed item is a $24.99 Cart of Diamonds; prices vary by region. Free accounts keep the forced ads, and 55 of the 150 most relevant English Play reviews mention ads, some describing ads that jump to the Play Store and void the reward. The Clubbox, launched in February 2026 with a T-Pain collaboration, runs 16-day events whose tickets come from Encore Events or purchases. Supercell's Hay Day also sells time-skipping Diamonds, from $1.99.

Rated 4+ and Teacher Approved for Ages 6+: What Parents Should Check

Apple rates the game 4+ for infrequent mild contests, and Google Play lists it as Everyone, Teacher Approved for ages 6 and up; the developer has committed to the Play Families Policy. Its data safety form says approximate location, device IDs and app activity may be shared with third parties, including for advertising, and Apple's label counts purchases, location and identifiers among data used to track users. Big Blue Bubble's privacy policy, last updated in June 2020, says it does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Its help center points parents to Screen Time on iOS, purchase verification on Google Play and Amazon's parental controls, and the Social menu can auto-reject friend requests. Check the current terms with Big Blue Bubble before handing over a device.

  • Any purchase, even a $0.99 pack, removes forced third-party ads

  • Email login carries progress between iOS and Android devices
  • Recording Studio parts stay private; other players cannot hear them

Cons

  • Breeding and incubation timers keep nudging you toward Diamonds or video ads

  • Clubbox tickets and Dipster Digs tokens are also sold for real money
  • The Steam edition is separate: no progress transfer, no cross-platform friends

Verdict

We score it 7.5: every monster adds a part to its island's song, and Composer Island and the Recording Studio give that music real depth. Take it if you like checking in a few times a day and building something you can hear. Skip it if Diamond-selling timers frustrate you, if a child could buy Clubbox tickets before purchase controls are set, or if you want your phone save on Steam.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play My Singing Monsters offline?

No. Big Blue Bubble states that the game needs an internet connection over mobile data or Wi-Fi. Progress is saved to an account secured with an email, Apple, Google or Amazon login, which is how you restore it on a new device; new guest accounts cannot be created since version 4.8.6.

2

How do you get rid of ads in My Singing Monsters?

Make any in-app purchase. One purchase turns the account Premium, which removes forced third-party ads and unlocks extras such as the Bonus Nursery; on the US App Store the cheapest packs cost $0.99, and prices vary by region. Optional videos that shorten timers stay available after you pay.

3

What do you need to run My Singing Monsters?

iPhone and iPad need iOS 13 or later and about 1.1 GB of space; Android needs version 7.0 or later, and the game is also on the Amazon Appstore and Samsung Galaxy Store. The free Steam edition asks for Windows 10, 2 GB of RAM and 2 GB of storage, but keeps separate progress.

4

Is My Singing Monsters cross-platform?

Only between phones and tablets. An account secured with email opens on any iOS or Android device, while Apple, Google and Amazon logins stay on their own platforms. The Steam edition is standalone, so progress, purchases and friends do not cross over. Friends on one platform can upvote islands, light Wishing Torches and form a Tribe.

5

How long does breeding take in My Singing Monsters?

It depends on the species: the help center says breeding and incubation times vary by monster, and the Nursery holds one egg at a time. The Enhanced Breeding Structure and Enhanced Nursery cut those times by 25%, and Diamonds or video ads skip ahead. Several recent Google Play reviews complain about waits of many hours.
