About AutoZone Auto Parts & Repair

The AutoZone app is the retailer's parts catalog and loyalty card in one: scan a VIN to add a vehicle, see which nearby store stocks a part, then pick it up, ship it or, in select markets, get it delivered the same day. Its AutoZone Rewards pay $20 after five purchases of $20 or more. The catch is search: 2026 reviewers report results unrelated to the query or the selected vehicle.

AutoZone App Review: Generous Rewards, a Parts Search That Often Misses

How AutoZone Rewards work: $20 back after five $20 purchases

With no ads or in-app purchases on Google Play, the money feature is AutoZone Rewards. Each purchase of $20 or more before tax earns one credit, and five credits issue a $20 Reward. Credits count transactions rather than dollars: a $400 order earns the same single credit as a $20 one, and core deposits, Loan-A-Tool deposits and gift cards don't count toward the $20. O'Reilly's O'Rewards, by comparison, pays $5 per 150 points at one point per dollar. Credits lapse after 365 days and Rewards after 90, and AutoZone may close a membership after 12 months without activity, wiping both. A missed credit can be claimed from a receipt up to 90 days old, twice a month at most.

Garage, VIN scanner and the Fits Your Vehicle tag

A vehicle goes in with a scan of the VIN barcode on the door-jamb sticker or a license plate entry, though one August 2026 reviewer still had to pick engine size and trim afterwards. Since a May 2026 update, the Garage also holds motorcycles and ATVs, and each search result shows a Fits Your Vehicle tag, the chosen store's stock and whether same-day or next-day delivery applies. In stores, the barcode scanner shows a shelf item's price and specs, and Rewards members get free make-and-model repair guides, though not for every make and year. Search is the weak spot. An April 2026 Google Play review with 182 helpful votes says a query for polishing pads returned brake pads, and a September 2026 reviewer saw power steering pumps for every make despite the vehicle-specific filter.

What the free app costs in data: Meta, Epsilon and Snapchat

AutoZone's privacy policy, effective November 4, 2025, names Google Analytics, Bing Ads, Epsilon, Meta, YouTube and Snapchat as partners for personalized content and targeted ads, and says that may count as selling or sharing data under California's CCPA. Apple's privacy label lists usage data as used to track you across other companies' apps, and links purchase history and contact details to your identity for AutoZone's own marketing. On Android, the Data safety form declares name, email, address and user IDs, with phone number and purchase history optional, sent encrypted and deletable on request. Opt-outs run through the Cookie Preference Center, dsar.autozone.com and Global Privacy Control. Apple's label lists only coarse location, used for personalization.

Forced updates, recycled release notes and no iPad version

The app needs Android 7.0 or iOS 15.6 and later, runs in English only and has no iPad version. Two September 2026 Google Play reviewers say it refused to open until updated, and others want a dark mode or a layout for folding phones. The September 2026 release notes repeat the February 2025 text word for word, and four straight updates from May to August 2026 shipped identical notes. An August 2026 review with 40 helpful votes says store stock counts had become unreliable and the Garage lost its sorting; other 2026 reviewers find them accurate.

Pros

  • Five purchases of $20 or more earn a $20 Reward
  • Adds vehicles by scanning the VIN barcode or entering a license plate
  • Search results show fitment, store stock and delivery eligibility together
  • Free next-day delivery on $35-plus orders across 100,000-plus parts
  • No ads and no in-app purchases on Google Play
  • Garage holds motorcycles and ATVs alongside cars since May 2026

Cons

  • Rewards count transactions, so a $400 order earns a single credit
  • 2026 reviews report unrelated search results and an ignored vehicle filter
  • Usage data feeds cross-app tracking; ad partners include Meta and Snapchat
  • Reviewers report the app refusing to open until it is updated

Verdict

We score the app 7.3. Fitment tags, live store stock and Rewards that return $20 for five modest purchases make it worth installing if you already shop at AutoZone; an unreliable search, forced updates and ad-partner data sharing pull the score down. Take it if you buy parts a few times a year and want receipts, warranties and Rewards in one place. Skip it if you mostly place one large order at a time, or if cross-app tracking bothers you.

Core function8.0Fitment tags, live store stock and three fulfilment options plus Rewards tracking; Fix Finder light reading stays in-store only.
Ease of use6.5VIN and plate lookup speed up setup, but reviewers cite unrelated search results, an ignored vehicle filter and no dark mode.
Monetisation8.5No ads or in-app purchases; Rewards return $20 per five $20-plus purchases, but each Reward expires after 90 days.
Performance6.52026 reviews describe forced updates, slow loading and crashes, while recent release notes repeat old text verbatim.
Privacy & permissions6.0Usage data feeds cross-app tracking and partners include Meta and Snapchat; opt-outs, Global Privacy Control and deletion requests exist.

Frequently asked questions

1

How do AutoZone Rewards work in the app?

You earn one credit for each purchase of $20 or more before tax, in a store, online or in the app, and five credits issue a $20 Reward, usually within 72 hours. The app shows your credit count and a scannable Rewards ID. Credits count purchases, not dollars, and AutoZone can change the thresholds without notice.

2

Can the AutoZone app tell me if a part fits my car?

Yes. Once a vehicle is in your Garage, added by VIN scan, license plate or by typing its year, make and model into search, results carry a Fits Your Vehicle tag next to store stock. Treat it as a first check: 2026 reviewers report results for every make despite a vehicle-specific filter, so confirm the part number.

3

Does the AutoZone app charge for delivery?

Next-day delivery is free on orders of $35 or more, covering more than 100,000 parts; smaller orders pay a fee. Same Day Delivery, in select markets for orders placed by 6 PM, is priced at checkout, and store pickup is free. Batteries add a refundable core deposit, $18 in AutoZone's own screenshots. Prices vary by region and can change.

4

Do AutoZone Rewards expire?

Yes. Each credit expires 365 days after issue and each $20 Reward after 90 days, except for members in Maine. AutoZone may also end a membership after 12 months without account activity, and all credits and Rewards are then lost. If you leave, Google Play's Data safety form says you can ask AutoZone to delete your data.

5

What are the best alternatives to the AutoZone app?

Advance Auto Parts is the closest match: its app covers more than 4,000 Advance and Carquest stores, saves cars in a Vehicle Garage and sells DieHard batteries. NAPA AUTO PARTS has an iPhone app last updated in November 2017. O'Reilly's only app, O'Reilly Pro, requires a professional account.
