About Golf Clash - Golfing Simulator

Golf Clash is a one-shot-each duel on licensed courses — Quail Hollow, St Andrews, East Lake, Pebble Beach — where wind speed and a moving aim ring decide every stroke. Clubs are collected as cards with their own statistics. Apple rates it 13+ and lists loot boxes, and gem packs run $0.99 to $9.99. Ten million people have installed it on Android alone.

Golf Clash Review: Real Courses, Cards for Clubs

Wind and a Moving Ring

Every stroke works the same way: a wind figure and direction sit on the left, the shot is aimed by dragging the ball back, and a ring closes over a target that must be tapped at the right instant. Miss the timing and the ball curves off line by a distance the wind decides. It is a single mechanic, learned in one hole and mastered over months, and the licensed courses give it context — a green at Pebble Beach with the ocean behind it reads differently from an inland fairway. Both players take their shots in turn, so a hole is a direct comparison.

Clubs Are Cards With Statistics

The bag screen is a grid of named clubs — drivers, long irons, wedges, putters — each a collectible card with its own power, accuracy, top-spin and curl values and a progress bar toward the next upgrade level. A better long iron narrows the target ring and shortens the wind's influence, so equipment is not decoration: it is the difficulty setting. Cards arrive from chests, and Apple's listing names loot boxes among the contents. Tournaments are licensed too, with qualifying rounds, live leaderboards and a countdown to the round's end.

The Rating Gap and the Chest Economy

Google Play carries an advertising badge and in-app purchases against 10 million installs and 4.3 stars from 2.15 million reviews; the App Store shows 4.5 from 2.15 million ratings on a 271.6 MB install. Purchases are gems and golden shots from $0.99 to $9.99, with several $4.99 bundles between. Apple's content list is unusually long for a golf game — loot boxes, advertising, chat, and references to alcohol, tobacco and weapons — which comes from the tournament sponsorship and cosmetics rather than from the golf itself. The two store averages sit two-tenths apart on almost identical sample sizes, which is unusual and suggests platform rather than content.

Verdict

A single timing mechanic, licensed courses and a head-to-head format that makes every hole a direct comparison — that combination has kept it running for years. The problem is the bag: clubs pulled from chests measurably change accuracy, so progress is bound to the card collection rather than to your aim. Enjoyable free, frustrating the moment you meet a fully upgraded opponent.

Gameplay7.5One timing mechanic executed well, with wind giving each hole a real problem.
Controls8.0Drag, aim, tap the closing ring — simple to learn, punishing to time.
Replay value7.5Course rotation, tournaments and a club collection that upgrades slowly.
Graphics & sound8.0Recognisable holes from real courses, with weather that affects the shot.
Monetisation5.5Chests, adverts and clubs that change accuracy rather than appearance.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can it be played offline?

No. Matches are live head-to-head duels with coins staked on the result, so a connection is required. There is no practice range that works without the internet, which rules out playing during a flight or on the underground.

2

What does it sell?

Gems and golden shots from $0.99 to $9.99, plus several $4.99 bundles. Gems open chests containing club cards, and Apple lists loot boxes among the contents — the strongest clubs are drawn rather than chosen, then upgraded with duplicates.

3

What does it need to run?

271.6 MB and iOS 13 or later on iPhone, which covers most phones in circulation. The course visuals are the heaviest part; the game itself is a single shot at a time and demands little of the processor between strokes.

4

Can you play against friends?

Yes, through friendly matches and clan-style groups, alongside the ranked ladder against strangers. Tournaments put many players against the same course over a fixed period, which is the mode where a good round is compared against hundreds rather than one opponent.

5

How long is a match?

A one-hole duel takes a minute or two, and a full nine-hole tournament round considerably longer. The structure suits both: a single hole between other things, or a proper session when a tournament qualifying round has a deadline attached.
