MadOut 2 is the Eastern European GTA on phones — a post-Soviet open world of Ladas, ДПС patrol cars and prefab blocks, 30-plus voiced story missions, and online servers of up to 200 players doing jobs, races and mafia role-play — free on iOS and Android since 2017 and still updated, version 20.47 on September 7, 2026. MadOut 2 Review: A Free GTA-Alike on a Phone, Interrupted Every Five Minutes

Ladas, Patrol Cars and 200 Players in a Post-Soviet City

The setting is the selling point: a city and countryside modelled on Eastern Europe, with Zhiguli-shaped sedans, a ДПС-liveried police car, and cars you rebuild in a customisation shop. Single player has more than 30 story missions — all voiced as of version 20.47, with Angelina's storyline reworked and missions 8 to 10 added — and the September 7, 2026 update layered on Car Theft and Lost Cargo events, a trick-score counter, destructible map objects and a weather setting. Online is the other half: servers of up to 200 players, jobs, races, police chases and the mafia role-play the listing invokes, which a 2021 App Store five-star calls the closest thing to GTA on iOS. The most-voted Play review, a July 2024 five-star with 2,224 votes, sums up the tone — the Diablo is super cute, it costs 350 diamonds, and the game lags and freezes.

Ad Breaks in Single Player, Crashes on Old Phones, One Skin Colour

The July 14, 2026 Play one-star with 26 votes describes the ad cadence: an ad break every three to seven minutes during a single-player match, plus constant pleas for money, enough to put the reviewer off within twenty minutes. September 2026 App Store reviews say the same in three languages, one adding that the ads get stuck and force a restart. Stability is the second thread: a September 19 three-star reports the game shutting down every five to ten minutes mid-action after reinstalls, a September 16 review crashes on an iPhone XR. Take it if you want a free GTA-style sandbox with friends and will pay $0.99 to remove the ads. Skip it if crashes every few minutes or a shop that wants hundreds of dollars would sour it, or if you want a single-player game you can play offline.
