About PUBG MOBILE

This is the battle royale that made the format ordinary on phones: parachute in, loot buildings, stay inside the shrinking circle, be the last one standing. The current build is dressed as a Naruto crossover and ships a creation mode with its own desktop editor. The download is 4 GB — the largest here — and currency runs from $0.99 to $99.99.

PUBG Mobile Review: 4 GB, 48 Million Reviews, Ninjas

A Hundred Players and One Shrinking Circle

The loop has not moved in years and does not need to: everyone drops from a plane onto the same island, weapons and armour are scattered through buildings, and a safe zone contracts until the survivors are forced together. Vehicles cover distance, and the last stretch of a match is usually three people in a field pretending to be rocks. The store screens still lead with the parachute drop and a claim of more than a billion players, which the install count supports — a billion downloads and 48.6 million reviews on Google Play alone.

Naruto Took Over the Island

The current season is a licensed crossover: a Nine-Tails Invasion event defending the Hidden Leaf Village, a Ninjas Showdown billed as a clash of jutsu, and a rebuilt Hidden Leaf Village the developers describe as authentic to the classics. This is the operating model now — the map becomes a themed park for a season, then reverts. Whether it improves anything depends entirely on whether you wanted an anime village inside a military survival game, and the answer splits the audience every single time. The update on 1 July 2026 continued the same pattern, which is how an eight-year-old game keeps drawing a billion installs.

World of Wonder, Prime and a 4 GB Install

World of Wonder is the creation mode, updated with fresh incentives, contests and a desktop editor, so player-built maps are made on a computer and played on a phone. Money comes in two shapes: currency packs from 60 units at $0.99 to 6,000 at $99.99, and subscriptions — Prime at $0.99 a month, Prime Plus at $9.99. Apple rates the game 13+ with frequent weapons, and lists loot boxes, chat and user-generated content among the contents, on a 4 GB install. Google Play calls it Teen and shows 4.3 stars.

Pros

  • The battle royale format at its most refined
  • World of Wonder lets players build and share maps
  • Crossover seasons keep the same map feeling new
  • Subscriptions start at $0.99 a month
  • A billion installs and 48.6 million Play reviews

Cons

  • A 4 GB download, the largest in this catalogue
  • Loot boxes are listed among the contents
  • Currency packs climb to $99.99 each
  • Licensed crossovers dominate the seasonal identity

Verdict

Still the most complete battle royale on a phone, with a creation mode that gives it life between seasons and matchmaking deep enough that queues are instant almost anywhere. The costs are a 4 GB install, loot boxes, and a seasonal identity now driven by licensing deals rather than by the game itself. Worth it if you have the storage and want the format at its most polished.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play offline?

No. Every match is a live lobby of other players, so the game needs a connection throughout and a drop mid-match usually means a death. Training mode also runs on the server, so there is nothing playable when the signal disappears.

2

What does it sell?

In-game currency from 60 units at $0.99 to 6,000 at $99.99, spent on crates, passes and cosmetics, plus two subscriptions at $0.99 and $9.99 a month. Apple's listing names loot boxes, which is how the rarer cosmetics are distributed rather than sold directly.

3

How much space does it need?

4 GB on iPhone with iOS 13 or later, the largest install in this catalogue. It runs on modest Android hardware by dropping resolution and effects, but the download alone rules it out on a phone that is already close to full.

4

Can you play with friends?

Yes — duos and four-player squads with voice chat are the standard way to play, and the creation mode lets a group play maps another player built. Squad matchmaking uses the highest-ranked member, so mixed groups meet stronger opponents than the weakest player expects.

5

How long is a match?

A full match ends only when one player or squad remains, so it is one long round rather than several short ones. Dying early ends it in a couple of minutes; surviving to the final circle takes far longer, and there is no way to pause or leave without forfeiting the match.
