About Glory Ages - Vikings

Glory Ages: Vikings is a one-developer parry-and-dodge action game — waves of Northmen on snowy Scandinavian fields, slow-motion finishers, 60 three-star levels — from Vladislav Vasilev, maker of Glory Ages: Samurais, free with ads on iPhone since February 17, 2026. There is no Android version. The App Store holds 4.7 from 567 ratings; the reviews love the combat and object to a stamina bar that empties mid-fight, potions sold to refill it, and a shop of crystals to $34.99.

Glory Ages: Vikings Review: Sharp Parry Combat, a Stamina Bar Sold Back to You

Parry, Dodge, Counter — the Samurais Formula in the Snow

The developer's own description is the design: no button-mashing, victory by timing. Enemies come in waves across a snowfield, each with a fighting style — aggressive, cautious — and you wait for the window to parry or dodge, chain strikes, trigger active skills to break a guard, and finish in slow motion. Progression unlocks techniques and attributes. It is the structure of Vasilev's Glory Ages: Samurais moved north, in 60 levels rated up to three stars, with a March 2 update, version 0.1.056, that reworked the tutorial, added camera-angle settings and an Epic graphics mode and gave the Viking a voice. Reviews from the February 17, 2026 launch are enthusiastic: a February 23 review praises the dodging, parrying and slow-mo and the fact that you are not always the strongest, and a June 13 five-star finished all 60 levels at three stars. Rated 18+, English only, 361 MB on iOS 15 or newer.

Breath That Runs Out Mid-Wave, a Parry Window Too Small, and a Wall at the High Levels

The complaints are about the same system from two sides. A June 19 review — five stars to sneak it through, one star in content — says your breath runs out so fast that later levels are impossible without potions, one enemy exhausting you while eight wait; a September 7 five-star lost every potion, including the purple berserk one needed to clear a level in under 80 seconds, and cannot progress; an April 17 three-star finds the high levels frustratingly difficult, enemies whose attacks cannot be followed; a June 28 four-star asks for a larger margin of error on parries and dodges because a missed one means being comboed into oblivion. The wishes are consistent — more weapons, customisation, a camera you can pan, a gore setting, more modes or a campaign, and, from an August 7 review, more replayability; an August 23 review finds the fights too short. The App Store record is 567 ratings at 4.7, with no Android version and no update since March.

Ads, a $7.99 Ad Removal, Potions, and Crystals to $34.99

Apple flags Advertising and In-App Purchases. The ads, per a February 16 review, had been toned back by launch week; No Ads costs $7.99. The rest of the shop is a currency ladder — Coin Packs at $1.99, $4.99 and $24.99, Crystal Packs at $1.99, $9.99, $19.99 and $34.99, a Starter Pack at $4.99 and a Legendary Equipment Pack at $12.99 — and the economy behind it drew the first review's complaint on February 22: at around level 30 the reviewer was still on the second equipment set because gear prices outrun earned currency. An August 23 three-star says it plainly, pay to win. Apple's tracking list is Purchases, Location, Usage Data and Diagnostics not linked to you. The developer's listed website is a Blogspot page. Prices are regional.

Verdict

A 5.8 for a small, skilful fighting game whose best idea — you win by timing — is undercut by a stamina bar and a potion shop that decide the later levels for you. Take it if you liked Glory Ages: Samurais and want the same on a snowfield, and can pay $7.99 to drop the ads. Skip it if you are on Android, or if paying to keep breathing in a level-based game is the wrong deal.

Gameplay7Real timing combat across 60 levels; late waves tuned around potions.
Controls6Clean touch inputs with a tiny parry margin and a camera reviewers want to pan.
Replay value5Three-star every level, then nothing — reviewers ask for modes and a campaign.
Graphics & sound7Atmospheric snow and aurora scenes in 361 MB; too clean for some, who want gore.
Monetisation4Ads, a stamina economy, potions and crystals to $34.99 in a level-based game.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Glory Ages: Vikings offline?

The store page does not say. It is single-player with no multiplayer or events, so the levels may run without a signal, but the ads need a connection and purchases are verified online. Buy the $7.99 ad removal and test airplane mode.

2

Is Glory Ages: Vikings pay to win?

An August 2026 reviewer says so, and the design supports it: a stamina bar that later levels exhaust, potions to refill it, gear priced beyond earned coins by level 30, and a shop of Coin and Crystal Packs from $1.99 to $34.99 plus a $12.99 Legendary Equipment Pack. There is no PvP, so it is you against the wall. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Glory Ages: Vikings?

An iPhone or iPad on iOS 15 or newer with 361 MB free — there is no Android version, and the Play Store's similarly named results are other games. The March 2026 update added an Epic graphics mode for newer devices and camera settings; reviews report no performance trouble.

4

Can you play Glory Ages: Vikings with friends?

No. It is a single-player wave-combat game with no co-op, multiplayer or leaderboards on the App Store. Reviewers ask for new modes and a story campaign; none has arrived since the March 2026 update.

5

How long is Glory Ages: Vikings?

Sixty levels, each a few waves of a minute or two — an August 2026 French reviewer finds fights too short — with three-star ratings and timed challenges like a level under 80 seconds. A June reviewer three-starred all 60; how long that takes depends on how the stamina economy treats you in the high levels.
