TikTok vs Instagram Reels: Which App to Keep on Your Phone
TikTok if the feed is the point; Instagram if the people are. On our scores it is 7.5 to 7.1, and the gap is weight and messaging: Instagram's iPhone

MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time is Mattel's own endless runner — Skeletor fleeing through Snake Mountain from the heroes of Eternia, Filmation-era looks, meme quips before every run, and He-Man himself chasing since Season 4 — free on iOS and Android since June 2, 2026 with ads, a $7.99 Vile Pass and revives for sale. The reviews love the joke and the licence; they report freezes on an iPhone 13 and a Galaxy S22, repetition by week two, and a No Ads pack that leaves the ads that matter.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-09-21. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The design is the Subway Surfers template with Skeletor in the lead: swipe to change lane, leap and slide through Snake Mountain's caverns while He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Mekaneck and the rest try to trip you, collect coins and power-ups, summon Panthor, and unlock heroes and villains — Evil-Lyn included — each with an ability. Season 4 in September 2026 added the He-Man Chase, a run type with lightning strikes, Sword of Power attacks and multi-lane mayhem, plus Snake Mountain 2.0 and new skins. The look is the 1980s Filmation cartoon; the flavour is the internet's Skeletor, a quip before every run — the best part of the game, per an August 12 Play review, and the reason a June 2 App Store five-star chuckles every run. A July 1 review keeps buying the battle pass for the collectables. Rated 13+ and Everyone 10+, English only, 754 MB on iOS 17 or newer, Android 8.1.
The technical thread runs from launch to now. A June 8 App Store four-star on an iPhone 13 crashes returning to the menu after every death; an August 3 Play two-star on a Galaxy S22 freezes for minutes at a time after ten minutes of play and misses swipes — Mattel's reply points to support; an August 26 Play four-star stutters and freezes mid-run, ending runs in crashes; a June 9 iPhone review cannot pass the tutorial. A July 13 five-star adds that the game now silences podcasts and music, which it did not at launch. The design complaint is the genre's: an August 12 three-star with five votes finds too little variety, lost interest quickly, and rates it for the licence — MOTU deserves better; a July 6 App Store three-star calls it a Subway Surfers clone with more micro-transactions. Ratings: 3.3 from 432 on Play with 100,000-plus installs, 4.2 from 98 on the App Store.
Both stores flag advertising and in-app purchases; Google Play prices items from $0.49 to $99.99. The App Store's top ten are a Vile Pass Unlock at $7.99, a Season 4 Battle Pass Catch-Up at $3.99, a First Time Offer at $0.99, a Starter Bundle at $1.99, an I Wanna Be Like He-Man pack at $3.99, event bundles at $2.99, a Small Coin Bundle at $4.99, and the consumables that sell at the moment you lose — OutOfRevives at $4.99 and OutOfCoins at $3.99. A July 28 two-star explains the ad model: the post-run ads are skippable free, while the ads for double coins and extra lives cannot be skipped even after buying the No Ads pack, so do not buy it expecting silence. Apple's tracking list is Identifiers and Usage Data linked to you; Google's data-safety card lists App activity, App info and Device IDs collected. Prices are regional.

A 5.6: the best-dressed endless runner of the year, with the funniest villain in it, running on a build that freezes and a shop that sells the ads back to you. Take it if you love Skeletor enough to forgive a Subway Surfers with a licence and can laugh through a crash. Skip it if you want the runner to hold your attention past the quips, or if paying for No Ads and still getting them is the kind of thing that ends a game for you.
The store pages do not say. It is single-player, but seasons, the battle pass, events and the reward ads that fund extra lives are online, and Google's card lists App activity and Device IDs collected. Expect the run to work without a signal and the rewards to wait for one.
Free with ads: the post-run ads are skippable, per a July 2026 review, and the double-coin and extra-life ads are not — even with the No Ads pack. The shop sells a $7.99 Vile Pass, a $3.99 pass catch-up, bundles from $0.99 to $4.99 and revives and coins at death, with items to $99.99 on Google Play. Prices vary by region.
iOS 17 or newer with 754 MB free, or Android 8.1 or newer; Apple Silicon Macs run it. The reviews say more than the floor: an iPhone 13 crashes at the menu, a Galaxy S22 freezes after ten minutes, and mid-run stutters end runs. Mattel points affected players to its support site.
No. It is a single-player runner with no multiplayer or head-to-head mode on either store — an August 2026 reviewer asks for runs as other characters and battles against the heroes as ideas. Leaderboards and seasons are the only comparison.
A minute or a few, until a hero trips you — or, for some phones, until the freeze does. Sessions are a handful of runs and a quip each; seasons run for weeks with a pass and collectables, and an August 2026 reviewer lost interest before the first season ended.
